Job Description Summary
Contribute to the department by successfully demonstrating knowledge and skills required to instruct and supervise curriculum students in the hospitality management discipline. Maintain accurate records in required format for audit purposes. Strive to promote the safety, health and comfort of students, employees and guests of the college.
Duties
Duties the incumbent must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, include the following: 1. Provides instruction in hospitality management curriculum courses; 2. Directly supervises curriculum students in a variety of practicum and laboratory environments, including dining facilities; 3. Models world-class service in simulated hospitality environments that will enable students to develop and enhance the skills and knowledge leading to employment; 4. Prepares syllabi reflecting course objectives; 5. Provides a teaching program that will make full and effective use of all scheduled class/lab time; 6. Maintains students’ records as defined by the North Carolina Community College System including grades, attendance and performance measures; 7. Maintains and models sanitation and uniform standards established for the programs; supervises sanitation stations; 8. Demonstrates and facilitates diversity awareness and sensitivity; 9. Adheres to College and departmental policies, standards and procedures; 10. Performs duties as assigned by department chair; 11. Maintains good communication with department chair, colleagues, clients and students.
Minimum Requirements
1. A.A.S. in Hospitality Management from a regionally accredited institution plus three years documented hospitality work experience or BA/BS in Hospitality Management or Related field, from a regionally accredited institution, plus one year documented hospitality work experience; 2. Computer skills including MS Office and current learning management system; 3. Ability exhibit a positive attitude toward students, the teaching process and serve as a role model of the hospitality profession.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field, from a regionally accredited institution, plus one year documented work experience in hospitality; 2. Experience teaching in higher education; 3. Industry recognized certifications.
